This role is based in CBS Bucharest, Service Management Department, where colleagues deliver digital excellence in Purchasing, Finance, Logistics, Sales Administration and Personnel.

This role will work closely with the relevant functional teams within CBS Bucharest, and not only, on projects and initiatives to capture the needs of business entities, collect, analyze and exploit available and relevant data to improve activities steering and identify levers for creating value for the company. He/she relies on a thorough knowledge of the digital options and existing processes within Smart Automation network to understand the needs expressed by the business.

He/she partners with Business and other IT Solution Architects to gain a deep understanding of the business processes and analytics requirements. The incumbent would be responsible for translating the business requirements into technical design solution, and for designing and testing BI solutions that can involve databases, data warehouses, ETLs, SQL queries, reports, and dashboards. 
He/she has the ability to analyze current reporting and dashboards to provide optimization and integration of data and report delivery; and has the ability to work with key cross functional stakeholders to incorporate changes, enhancements and deliver updated enhancements in agile manner balancing multiple competing priorities within and beyond CBS.

We are seeking a proactive and analytical professional with strong business analysis skills and a collaborative mindset to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to solve complex problems and make informed decisions in a fast-paced data-driven environment.

Key Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Demonstrated experience in business analysis, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing business needs.
  • Experience with Data Lake technologies, particularly Azure Data Lake and Databricks.
  • Proven experience in SQL for data querying, transformation, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python for data querying, transformation, and analysis.
  • Proven experience with Power BI Desktop and Service, including data modeling, DAX, Power Query, and implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) for secure, scalable reporting solutions.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modeling concepts (star schema, fact and dimension tables) to support performant Power BI semantic models.
  • Experience optimizing queries and data models for performance across Power BI, Databricks SQL, and large datasets stored in the Data Lake
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

  • Experience with data engineering practices, including building and maintaining data pipelines, preparing and integrating data from multiple sources, and supporting scalable analytics and reporting solutions.
  • Experience in Power Automate and Power Apps solutions.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets in a lakehouse or data lake architecture, including understanding of medallion/layered data models (bronze, silver, gold).

The BI Specialist will:

  • Provides support for identifying reporting processes that can be automated by creating BI dashboards or defining queries.
  •  If necessary, it can recommend opportunities for process improvement through simplification, standardization.
  •  Provides support for capturing all possible situations within the process analyzed for automation.
  •  Helps to document the requirement of automation through BI (within the automation / BI projects).
  •  Define / participate in defining reporting dashboards as required using the BI tools available in the company.
  •  Assists end users / process engineers in automated process testing.
  •  Document the result of the automation project within the business process analysis.
  • Collaborates with data engineering teams to ensure data models and pipelines in Databricks and the Data Lake support scalable and reliable reporting in Power BI.
  •  Ensures performance and usability of dashboards by applying best practices in data modeling, query optimization, and report design.

Communication and decision support

  • Extract and translate business data into statistical data.
  • Analyzes results, identifies trends and/or ideas for action and makes recommendations based on the analysis of data collected.
  • Provides its entity with decision-making statistical levers for the conduct and analysis of action campaigns.
  • Popularizes and presents results to decision makers in a format that is accessible to all through data visualization tools.
  • Ensures a good understanding of all possible cases in the analysis of reporting / visualization requirements.

Data Quality, Ethics and Security

  • Applies Group standards for data security, quality and confidentiality throughout their lifecycle and processing.
  • Ensures protection and integrity of information on its perimeter.
  • Meets ethical rules in the use of data.
  • Critically evaluates information collected from several sources and highlights possible constraints / conflicts over the automation projects.
  • Works with end users / process engineers to discover the needs of automation.

  • Ensures the sharing of good practices (internally and externally).
  • Regularly shares knowledge and expertise with others to support learning and progress.
