The Michelin Corporate Foundation, part of the Michelin Group, invests in the local communities in which Michelin operates.
The program to help develop the dual education system started in Zalău in 2018, at Mihai Viteazul Technological High School, and it is now being replicated in Prahova County.
In Prahova, the program launched in September 2019, in partnership with the Câmpina Energy Technology High School, is being developed in order to accommodate a growing number of students.
In the last two years, approximately 50 children have been the beneficiaries of the dual education programs developed by Michelin, both in Zalău and in Câmpina.
The projects are structured in 3 stages, which involve:
took part in the dual education program
are supported with these partnerships
were given to the high-schools through these partnerships
In Zalău, the Michelin Corporate Foundation supports dual education, in order to better respond to the workforce needs in Sălaj County. The project, launched in 2018, takes place at the Mihai Viteazul Technological High School.
Students have at their disposal the necessary equipment for training as hydraulic and pneumatic mechanics and as electromechanics for industrial installations and machinery. Various equipment were brought, such as: a milling cutter, a compressor, metal cabinets, a drilling machine, two pneumatic guns, an electrical screwdriving machine, a laptop and a video projector, etc.
All pupils have the opportunity to practice both in the newly equipped and arranged workshop, but also in the Michelin factory. Each pupil receives a monthly scholarship and is provided with lunch during the internships.
In 2018, 14 pupils were part of the dual education project for the professional qualification of hydraulic and pneumatic mechanic.
In 2019, 21 pupils joined the program; 10 out of them are studying for the professional qualification as electromechanic for industrial installations and machinery.
The project facilitating dual education (technical and professional) in Sălaj County was initiated with the support of the French Embassy in Romania and the French Institute in Romania - Bucharest. 21 partners are involved in this project. Among the partners, along with Zalău City Hall, we can also count the Sălaj County Council and Sălaj County School Inspectorate.
The dual education program aims to meet the needs in the school curricula. Students also have several equipment to help them train for the job of mechanic and electromechanic. We believe that dual education is very useful and meets the growing need for specialists in various technical fields.Cristian Lazăr, Service Personnel Manager Michelin Zalău Tires
Paying attention to the needs of the Câmpina community, the Michelin Corporate Foundation invests in the training for the electrician profession.
The partnership aims to equip the workshop of the Câmpina Energy Technological High School with technical equipment and allows students who are preparing to become electricians to put into practice, both in the workshop and in the Michelin factory, the theoretical knowledge gained in school.
The project will be developed in 3 stages, between 2019 and 2021. The workshop will benefit from dozens of technical equipment, including models and workbenches, electrical wiring teaching systems, electrical component kits, tool kits and measuring devices.
Our objective is that, annually, at least 20 new students be enrolled in this class and practice in our factory or in another partner company, but also in a refurbished workshop. The dual education system offers us the opportunity to contribute to the development of the community in which we have been operating for more than 80 years.Isabella Cândescu, Service Personnel Manager Michelin Victoria Plant in Florești
